About Us

The Magpie Coffee + Bakeshop is a women-led café and bakery in Leslieville. We serve great coffee, fresh bakes, and support a community of small food businesses through The Magpie Incubator. We’re looking for someone who loves coffee, hospitality, and community—and wants to help shape our next chapter.

About You

  • Experienced barista or café lead ready to grow into management.

  • Creative problem-solver who enjoys improving service, flow, and customer experience.

  • Comfortable balancing hands-on bar work with behind-the-scenes operations.

  • Passionate about food, coffee, and supporting local, women-led initiatives.

  • Thrives in a collaborative, small-business environment where your ideas matter.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead daily operations: staffing, scheduling, inventory, and stock.

  • Train and support our barista team to maintain quality and consistency.

  • Collaborate with owners on menu development, events, and retail opportunities.

  • Maintain health and safety standards and oversee café cleanliness.

  • Contribute creative ideas to grow community engagement and shop revenue.

  • Work morning opening or afternoon closing shifts (approx. 4–6 hours per shift) — 3-5 shifts per week.

Reports to: Owners

What We Offer

  • $21/hr + tips when on bar

  • Approx. 25 hours/week with potential to move full-time after 3 months

  • Contract-to-permanent role

  • Event or creative project pay negotiated per project

  • Complimentary drinks, bakeshop tastings, and occasional treats from our kitchen clients

The Magpie Coffee + Bakeshop is a women-led café serving excellent coffee, fresh-baked treats, and a welcoming community. We support local food entrepreneurs through our kitchen incubator and are looking for energetic baristas to join our team.

About You

  • Friendly, dependable, and passionate about coffee.

  • Experienced behind the bar — with time spent pulling espresso based coffee drinks in a coffee shop environment.

  • Comfortable working solo or as part of a small, supportive team.

  • Organized and tidy—you appreciate a clean, well-run space.

  • Excited to grow with a café that values creativity, quality, and community.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve coffee and food with care and attention to detail.

  • Support café operations: prep, cleaning, and shift setup.

  • Help create specials, new menu ideas, and contribute to community growth through creative promotional ideas.

  • Work morning opening or afternoon closing shifts (approx. 4–6 hours).

  • Part-time schedule with roughly 10–25 hours/week (mostly daytime and weekends).

Reports to: Shop Manager
